Gladstones Clinic offers accessible and effective residential cocaine rehab services within mere minutes of Gloucester. Over the course of two decades, we’ve honed and developed a comprehensive and integrated treatment programme that has helped countless Glostonians achieve permanent freedom from cocaine addiction.
Cocaine abuse presents a few unique challenges: it is often portrayed and seen as less harmful than other drugs, leading to a situation where people are increasingly comfortable with their habit and fail to seek help. Its short-lived and intensely euphoric effects also contribute to more regular use, increasing the risk of dependency and addiction. The combined impact of its relatively favourable image and increased potential for abuse can lead to serious and potentially irreversible physical, emotional, and psychological consequences.
If you or a loved one are struggling with cocaine addiction, please contact Gladstones Clinic for an obligation-free discussion of our residential and day care treatment programmes, and other rehab services. We understand the intricacies of dealing with cocaine abuse and offer personalised treatment schedules that address each patient’s unique underlying causes of addiction.
Our four-week residential cocaine rehab programmes are:
Our cocaine rehab programme is comprehensive and covers all aspects of the recovery journey. We keep everything in-house, from specialist intervention services (when necessary) to post-recovery support. Our cocaine rehab programme includes medically supervised detoxification, teenage rehab, therapy, counselling, family support, relapse prevention, and a wide range of secondary and tertiary recovery services.
Effective cocaine rehabilitation involves integrating various therapies and treatments into a unified approach; there is no one-size-fits-all solution. We offer a personalised blend of modern, evidence-based therapies along with holistic practices to effectively target and treat the root causes of addiction. This integrated approach has contributed to a long-term success rate that we’re proud of.
We strongly emphasise holistic health, believing that true well-being goes beyond just overcoming addiction. At Gladstones, holistic wellness includes physical, psychological, emotional, and social well-being. We've incorporated various alternative therapies into our cocaine recovery programme, promoting mindfulness, emotional regulation, nutrition, and more.
Various factors influence what each patient’s best course of action is. To provide the best possible care, we adapt each patient’s treatment to best facilitate their recovery needs.
Substance abuse and mental health disorders go hand in hand. It’s not uncommon for cocaine rehab patients to have either developing, undiagnosed, or co-occurring disorders, either caused by or contributing to substance abuse. A full evaluation of your physical and mental health status, cocaine abuse history, and other key factors allows us to accurately diagnose and address everything that has contributed to developing a SUD.
While a physician’s referral is required to gain access to NHS cocaine recovery services, this is not a requirement for admission to Gladstones Clinic. We have qualified physicians and mental health experts on staff who will interview you to get a fuller picture of your addiction status and overall health before making an official diagnosis for substance abuse and/or co-occurring mental health disorders.
All efforts to end substance abuse begin with detox, which involves eliminating all traces of the drug, including any active particles and residual metabolites, from your system. During this time, the patient may experience a wide range of withdrawal symptoms at varying levels of intensity, typically throughout 5 to 8 days for cocaine. At Gladstones Clinic, your detox is medically supervised by licensed physicians, who may prescribe certain medications to treat withdrawal symptoms, and you will have access to professional psychological support.
The first cocaine withdrawal symptoms—feelings of fatigue, irritability, and strong cravings—may start presenting within a few hours since the last use. Factors such as abuse patterns, withdrawal symptoms from other drugs, and possible co-occurring mental health disorders will affect the length and intensity of the withdrawal symptoms; however, most patients can expect to experience some degree of sleep disturbances, vivid dreams, mood and emotional instability, an increased appetite, and persistent anxiety. This crash phase typically reaches a peak within the first week and dissipates over the course of another.
Some patients may develop Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS), a condition that causes certain withdrawal symptoms to persist at a high intensity for up to several months after the acute phase.
Cocaine detox typically lasts 5 to 8 days. It’s important to note that detox and withdrawal symptoms are not the same thing. In a residential rehab context, the detox period ends once the patient is stable and comfortable enough to enter primary care. At this point, they are more than likely still experiencing some degree of withdrawal symptoms, but have stabilised enough to move on to intensive counselling and therapy. Depending on the patient’s needs, the prescribing physician is likely to start tapering down any symptom management medication at this point.
Cocaine withdrawal symptoms are managed as they arise, and there are no medications indicated specifically for the treatment of cocaine withdrawal symptoms. Depending on the case, benzodiazepines, antidepressants, and antipsychotics might be prescribed to treat sleep disorders, depression, or, in extreme cases, drug-induced psychosis.
Primary care refers to therapy, counselling, and treatment you receive aimed at understanding addiction, addressing its root causes, and developing personalised strategies for identifying and dealing with stressors. Our primary care programme for cocaine abuse relies on both modern and evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), group therapies, and other one-on-one therapies, as well as alternative practices with known recovery benefits.
While the amount of each varies between patients, our 20 years of addiction experience has taught us that individuals recovering from substance abuse respond best to a personalised mix of:
Rehab clinics worldwide widely use CBT in substance abuse therapy. It empowers patients to identify and manage harmful thought patterns that lead to self-destructive behaviour, as well as develop coping strategies to manage their triggers and prevent relapse. CBT focuses on practical and goal-orientated techniques.
DBT complements CBT, especially when the patient is suffering from co-occurring mental health disorders. It focuses on helping people manage intense emotions and regulate their emotional response to triggers. It also further helps to develop healthy coping mechanisms.
Group therapy is invaluable within residential rehab. It fosters a supportive environment, encourages shared accountability, development, and growth, and promotes introspection and reflection. Critically, it also builds a sense of community, which is integral to holistic health.
Cocaine abuse hurts individuals and families. Repeated unkept promises and disappointments break down trust and drive wedges between family members. Family therapy can help address and heal these old wounds, uniting members under a fresh commitment to sobriety. Critically, family therapy also helps to educate families on how to best deal with addiction, create a healthy environment at home, and support their loved one’s long-term sobriety.
Beyond these clinical therapies, Gladstones Clinic also relies on proven alternative therapies that support recovery.
Although most of our patients see a dramatic improvement in their lives after a four-week intensive residential stay, many choose to stay within the Gladstones community fold post-treatment. We provide free lifelong access to the Gladstones community and many of our recovery and relapse prevention resources, as well as industry-leading secondary and tertiary programmes that support and maintain sobriety.
Aftercare at Gladstones has a singular and targeted focus: ensure that no Gladstones patient ever feels alone in the battle against addiction again. This ethos of ensuring free and lifelong access to essential resources in various forms has been instrumental to many of our former patients’ journeys and contributes significantly to our long-term success rate.
Secondary care for cocaine rehab is best seen as a direct continuation of care after completing four weeks of residential rehab. This optional programme provides day care and intensive outpatient rehab services from our sister clinics in London and Bristol. Our Cornwall Clinic focuses specifically on specialist day care and intensive programmes for substance abuse.
Our minimum four-week secondary treatment for cocaine abuse programme includes:
