Drug and Alcohol Rehab in Bristol

Gladstones Clinic provides drug and alcohol rehab in Bristol for individuals seeking structured, professional support with addiction recovery.

With over 20 years’ experience, the clinic has helped hundreds of people across Bristol and the South West regain control of their lives through tailored treatment and ongoing support.

As part of the wider Gladstones Clinic network, this service offers structured addiction treatment pathways, including day programmes, secondary residential care, and long-term aftercare.

Each programme is tailored to the individual and delivered by an experienced team, many with lived experience of recovery.

How Our Bristol Rehab Programme Works

Recovery at our Bristol clinic starts with a personalised assessment. If needed, a medically supported detox helps you safely withdraw from drugs or alcohol.

You’ll then move into a structured programme of therapy, delivered by a team of doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, and counsellors, with ongoing support throughout your recovery. For advice on starting your journey to recovery, read our guide on how to get into rehab.

Addiction Treatment Options in Bristol

1. Non-residential primary care

If a four-week residential stay at our Cotswolds clinic isn’t suitable, many people choose flexible day care at our Bristol clinic.

With the same level of expert care, this option allows you to break free from addiction and mental health disorders while still managing to meet your daily responsibilities.

2. Live-in residential secondary care

Fully recovering from substance addiction often takes months or even years. Even after completing a residential multi-week treatment programme, reintegrating into a community can be challenging.

Our Bristol facility offers residential secondary care to support your return to everyday life, with continued access to therapy, resources, and sober-living support.

3. Central hub for aftercare

Gladstones Clinic is committed to long-term, holistic recovery from substance abuse and mental health disorders. Part of this commitment means that any former Gladstone patients have free and lifelong access to help and community whenever required.

Our drug and alcohol rehab in Bristol serves as a central hub where many former patients regularly come together, celebrate their successes, and motivate each other towards continued sobriety.

FAQs About Rehab in Bristol

The cost of drug and alcohol rehab in Bristol depends on the level of treatment required.

Residential programmes range from £3,000 to £15,000 for a 28-day stay, while day care and outpatient options are more affordable, starting at around £1,000. If this isn’t within your budget, see our guide, what to do if you can’t afford rehab.

You don’t always need a referral to access rehab in Bristol. While NHS treatment typically starts with a GP referral, private rehab can be accessed by contacting the clinic directly.

In both cases, you’ll usually have an initial assessment to understand your needs and recommend the most suitable treatment before starting a programme once arrangements are in place.

Gladstones Bristol offers residential care within our secondary addiction treatment programme only.

One of our key goals is to ensure residential patients have a safe, supportive environment as they return to daily life, with continued access to our treatment and resources.

Since the primary care treatments and therapies provided at both our residential facility in the Cotswolds and our non-residential Bristol facility are identical, the only difference lies in not being able to provide medically supervised detox in Bristol.

Substance abuse detox can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, dangerous. We ensure our patients’ safety by providing round-the-clock medical supervision during detox, providing medical intervention to reduce discomfort and danger when necessary.

Please contact us for more information about detoxing at our Cotswolds facility before transitioning to primary care in Bristol on a day-to-day basis.

Absolutely. We understand the challenges of seeking treatment while still managing to meet day-to-day responsibilities at work and home. Our Bristol clinic offers primary care for addiction, eating disorders, and mental health disorders built around your schedule, allowing you to continue working throughout treatment.

Those in residential (or daily) secondary care will also be able to continue working while completing our secondary treatment programme.

There are a number of ways to learn more about us, but the single best option is to contact us directly.

Our friendly and understanding operators will gladly walk you through any of your questions or concerns in an obligation-free and non-pushy way. You’re also more than welcome to schedule a personal tour of any of our facilities to see if it’s what you expect.

We are located near Clifton Down train station, with regular bus and coach links from Bristol city centre and surrounding areas. The clinic is also within easy reach of Bristol Bus and Coach Station, and can be accessed via the nearby M5 motorway for those travelling by car.
