7-Day Rehab FAQs

Yes, it’s absolutely possible to detox from drugs and/ or alcohol in seven days. For some, a 7-day detox is enough time to detox, but for others, especially those with more severe addictions, it can be a great starting point.

It takes much longer to overcome the psychological addiction, which is why we recommend transitioning to primary care after completing our 7-day rehab programme here at Gladstones Clinic.

A drug or alcohol detox is the first step towards recovery. Detoxification removes the substance from the body, helping to break physical dependence on a substance. It’s also safer to undergo a supervised detox. Quitting alcohol or drugs suddenly can lead to withdrawal symptoms, which can be severe in some cases. Detoxing with medical support can help you manage these symptoms, reducing the risk of severe symptoms and health risks.

Detox medication refers to medications that can help ease withdrawal symptoms and make the detox process more comfortable for you. There are different medications for different addictions – for example, for opioid addiction, you may be given methadone or Buprenorphine. Or, for alcohol addiction, you may be given benzodiazepines to manage symptoms such as seizures or DTs.

If you have a severe addiction – especially to substances such as opioids or benzodiazepines – you may need a little longer than 7 days to detox. The good news is that we offer longer programmes, such as our 14-day programme.

If you have a severe addiction, we strongly recommend opting for medical supervision during your detox. This is something we offer here at Gladstones Clinic – you will live in our rehab clinic throughout your detox journey, and we’ll be on hand to help manage withdrawal symptoms and reduce the risk of relapse.
