Everyone’s rehab journey is unique, and one size certainly does not fit all when it comes to addiction rehab. That being said, the general process tends to remain the same regardless of your addiction, the severity of your addiction, or the clinic you choose.

When you start rehab at one of our UK-based rehab centres, here’s a general idea of what you can expect, from start to finish:

1 - Admission

Your journey will begin when you first make contact with us, whether it be through our online portal or by calling our freephone number – 0808 168 2433. Assessments – You will undergo an assessment with one of our Admissions Coordinators, and then a more comprehensive assessment with a Registered Nurse, over the phone for your convenience. We also request bloodwork, although we can also take your bloods on site if needed. Medical Information – When we have got the assessments out of the way, we’ll then request medical information from your GP. This is for your safety, as we want to ensure the medications we provide and the treatment we offer is a good fit for you. Admission Planning – Throughout this process, we’ll keep you updated, discuss the treatment programme and let you know what to expect when attending our rehab clinic. We’ll be on hand to answer any questions you may have. This may involve setting dates for your treatment and discussing your payment options (e.g. whether your stay at rehab will be covered by your insurance). Your Treatment Begins – Now, it’s time to begin! We often admit patients within just 24 hours, although this may take longer depending on factors such as paperwork or funding. You will enter your room (if you’re staying as a resident at our residential rehab centre), or get to know the team. This entire process can be as quick at 48 hours. 2 - Detoxification

We’ll create a tailored detox plan based on your substance use history, medical history, and your needs. You’ll begin by ceasing drug use and alcohol use. Although this can be hard, and you may experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms, we’ll be here for you every step of the way.

Our addiction specialists may also administer medication to reduce discomfort and to help you manage the unpleasant symptoms. When you detox in our residential rehab centre, you can benefit from healthy meals designed to support your body during the detox stage.

You can detox in a peaceful and private space with Gladstones Clinic, in a private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Detox with no distractions so you can focus solely on your recovery.

3 - Primary Care

When you’ve completed detox, you may then transition to the primary care stage. This stage of rehab treatment includes various therapies and counselling, which can help you:

Build confidence
Become more motivated to stay sober/ drug-free
Learn about the root causes of your addiction
Identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours associated with addiction
Learn effective coping strategies and relapse prevention techniques
Repair broken relationships

Overcome existing mental health conditions

We offer a range of therapies here at Gladstones Clinic, from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to group therapy, family workshops and holistic therapies.

This stage of treatment here at our rehab clinic typically lasts for 28 days, although we do offer shorter and longer rehab programmes.

4 - Ongoing Support

When you finish a primary rehab programme with Gladstones, we’ll give you a personalised aftercare plan to give you the best chance of lasting recovery.

We are here for you every step of your recovery journey, not just the beginning. We offer lifelong support after you complete rehab at Gladstones Clinic, with sessions every Saturday morning. We also offer secondary and tertiary care programmes to help you stay sober and prevent relapse.

Our aftercare programmes include ongoing therapy, support groups, vocational support, and access to clean and sober living facilities. We also offer virtual support if you are unable to travel to our physical clinics.

Residential vs Non-Residential Rehab At Gladstones Clinic

When it comes to rehab treatment, what works for you may not work for someone else, and vice versa. One size does not fit all, which is why some people opt for residential rehab, whereas others opt for online rehab, outpatient rehab or Day Care Rehab services.
