Gladstones Clinic offers residential cocaine rehab programmes in the Cotswolds, within an hour’s drive of central Bristol. We have a two-decade track record of providing effective, affordable, and accessible rehab services for substance abuse, including medically supervised detox, primary care for cocaine abuse, and industry-leading access to aftercare services.
Cocaine abuse presents a unique rehab challenge: its euphoric effects are both intense and short-lived, leading to more frequent use and a greater potential for abuse and dependency. What starts as ‘a bit of harmless fun over the weekend’ quickly becomes a destructive cycle of abuse that takes over every aspect of one’s life. As the dependency escalates, so does the risk of physical, mental, emotional, and other potentially life-changing and irreversible consequences.
If you or a loved one in Bristol is struggling with cocaine addiction, contact Gladstones Clinic today. Our time-tested approach to addiction treatment is designed to help break the body’s physical dependency on substances while simultaneously addressing the underlying psychological causes of cocaine addiction. With Gladstones Clinic as your cocaine addiction recovery partner, you’ll soon return to a life free from substance abuse and a life lived with confidence.
Our four-week residential cocaine rehab programmes are:
Our program covers all aspects of cocaine rehab, from intervention services and diagnosis (where necessary) to lifelong access to aftercare services. Our comprehensive programmes include medically supervised detoxification, teenage rehab, therapy, counselling, family support, relapse prevention, and a wide range of secondary and tertiary recovery services.
Effective cocaine rehab requires a combination of different therapies and treatments packaged into a cohesive whole; there simply isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. We integrate a personalised blend of modern and evidence-based therapies and holistic practices to effectively target and address the root causes of addiction.
We place a heavy emphasis on holistic health, the belief that real health is more than freedom from addiction. At Gladstones, holistic well-being encompasses physical, psychological, emotional, and social aspects, and we have integrated several alternative therapies into our cocaine recovery programme that facilitate mindfulness, emotional regulation, nutrition, and more.
While each patient’s exact treatment schedule is built around their needs, in broad strokes, our cocaine rehab programme can be split into four distinct phases:
An addiction assessment and diagnosis is a critical step in the recovery process. Factors such as how long the patient has been abusing cocaine, the frequency of abuse, other types of substance abuse, co-occurring mental health conditions or disorders, and various other factors all affect the best possible course of action. Fully understanding your condition(s) allows us to create better and more personalised treatment plans.
Although many of our patients come to us after receiving a cocaine abuse disorder referral from a physician, this is not a requirement for admission at Gladstones Clinic. Our team includes qualified physicians and addiction experts who will interview you to get a complete picture of your addiction and health.
Detox is the first medical step towards any type of substance abuse recovery. It involves removing all traces of cocaine and its metabolites from the system, a process that is often uncomfortable and anxiety- and depression-inducing. Cocaine detox typically lasts anywhere between 5 and 8 days, although this can differ between individuals. During detox, you will have access to both medical supervision and psychological support from trained specialists.
Cocaine withdrawal can start within a few hours since the last use and is typically characterised by a ‘crash’—feelings of fatigue, irritability, and strong cravings. As withdrawal progresses, it causes sleep disturbances, vivid dreams, emotional instability, and persistent feelings of anxiety. Almost all cocaine rehab patients will go through these withdrawal symptoms at some level of intensity; however, some experience ongoing mood swings, fatigue, and persistent cravings over several weeks to months as their brain chemistry normalises.
In most cases, residential cocaine rehab patients experience the peak of withdrawal symptoms and begin to recover enough for full-time primary care within 5 to 8 days after their last use. It is important to note that there are several factors that can significantly influence this number, including abuse patterns, co-occurring mental health disorders, physical health profile, and more. In practice, it’s rare for a patient to still be experiencing physical withdrawal symptoms (sleep disturbances, fatigue, headaches, etc.) for more than 10 days since the last use.
There aren’t any medications specifically indicated to alleviate the symptoms of cocaine withdrawal. Instead, physicians might prescribe medication to address specific withdrawal symptoms, such as benzodiazepines for severe sleep disturbances and anxiety, antidepressants, or antipsychotics. Physicians prescribe these medications on a case-by-case basis due to their potential for abuse.
Primary care forms the backbone of cocaine addiction rehab and typically comprises a personalised combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), group therapies, other one-on-one therapies, and proven alternative treatments and techniques that assist in substance abuse recovery. Primary care helps patients address the root causes of their addiction and develop healthy coping strategies for dealing with cravings and stressors in the future.
While each patient’s journey to recovery is unique, we’ve learnt that, overwhelmingly, our patients respond best to a mix of several different treatment modalities widely used within the industry. To different degrees for each patient, our cocaine rehab programme typically consists of:
Clinics around the world widely use CBT in substance abuse therapy. It helps patients identify harmful or negative thoughts and behaviour patterns and develop coping strategies to manage triggers and prevent relapse. It emphasises practical and goal-orientated techniques and principles.
DBT is often used alongside CBT, especially in cases where the patient also suffers from co-occurring mental health disorders—it is not uncommon for those struggling with addiction to also suffer from anxiety disorders or depression. DBT helps patients manage intense emotions, regulate their emotional response to triggers, and further develop healthy coping mechanisms.
Group therapy is an invaluable tool in substance abuse rehab. It provides a supportive environment where patients can share their experiences and learn from others who have faced similar challenges. It fosters a sense of community and encourages shared accountability, development, and growth.
Cocaine abuse can severely harm the natural love and trust that exists within families. Family therapy not only helps families repair unhealthy dynamics but also brings them together in the fight against addiction. Armed with better communication skills and a fact-based understanding of addiction, families can create home environments that are conducive to healing and long-term sobriety.
We also provide alternative therapies that have been proven to promote mindfulness, introspection, blood flow, and healing. These include:
Although most of our patients see a dramatic improvement in their lives after a four-week intensive residential stay, many choose to stay within the Gladstones community fold post-treatment. We provide free lifelong access to the Gladstones community and many of our recovery and relapse prevention resources, and we offer industry-leading secondary and tertiary programmes that support and maintain sobriety.
Secondary care can be seen as a continuation of care after completing the four-week residential component of our cocaine rehab programme. While there are patients who are confident that they’ll be able to maintain their sobriety, others choose to continue therapy in either a day care or intensive programme format. We offer these services from our sister clinics in London and Bristol, as well as from our specialist day care clinic in Cornwall.
Our secondary care programme lasts a minimum of four weeks and includes ongoing access to therapy, the Gladstones community, and social-integration support programmes, such as skills and vocational training, college courses, volunteer work, and more.
Our aftercare programme ensures free and lifelong access to the Gladstones community and certain recovery resources. Many of our patients forge lifelong friendships within our community and choose to actively take part in group meetings long after they have beaten their own addictions. We cannot give the immense contribution that our community plays in supporting each other enough credit.
Our team is on standby to help you beat addiction and return to a life lived with confidence and free from substance abuse.
With over 15 years experience our integrated approach to treating Mental Health & Addictions has transformed the lives of hundreds of people by empowering and supporting them to take back control of their lives.
