Our services include:

Private Residential Detox and Rehab

Ending the cycle of substance abuse is known to be challenging, and many attempts at sobriety end in disappointment when withdrawal symptoms become too much to bear and lead to a relapse. For many, private residential rehab represents the best possible chance at lasting sobriety. With access to a medically supervised detox, prescribed medications to relieve the worst withdrawal symptoms, and direct access to trained therapists, Gladstones Clinic helps our patients get through withdrawal as comfortably as possible and ensures a smooth transition into primary care.

Medical professionals classify addiction—whether to substances or other harmful behaviours—as a complex mental health disorder that frequently coexists with other disorders like depression, anxiety, or PTSD. Our team is ideally positioned to help our patients diagnose and address possible co-occurring mental health disorders, allowing our patients to develop personalised strategies and coping mechanisms for a lasting recovery.

Gladstones Clinic: Helping Devon beat addiction and mental health disorder

As a complex mental health disorder, recovering from addiction takes more than effective primary care and therapy. For many of our patients, supplementary addiction recovery services that get people into rehab, programmes that work to improve their home environments, and continued access to care have all been instrumental parts of the healing journey. Our comprehensive and integrated approach to treatment means addressing all aspects of addiction.

Intervention services

Many individuals suffering from substance abuse problems hide their addictions or downplay the harm they’re causing themselves or their loved ones, motivated by fear of judgement, stigma, or change. Gladstones Clinic’s specialist intervention team helps families and friends plan and execute interventions to get their loved ones into treatment. Interventions are always stressful, and it can be challenging to navigate charged emotions. Having an expert who knows what to expect can help.

Family therapy

Family therapy is an important part of rehab for many of our patients. It not only helps families to commit to sobriety as a unit but equips them with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. Family therapy teaches effective communication skills, how to create a home environment that facilitates recovery and sobriety, and how to set and enforce healthy boundaries. For many families we see, it also helps to repair the damage caused by addiction.

Aftercare

As part of our commitment to our patients’ long-term recovery, Gladstones Clinic offers free and lifelong access to the Gladstones Community and essential recovery resources. We regularly meet in person at our clinics across the Southern UK, as well as online, to celebrate our success, welcome and guide new members who have recently completed residential therapy, and support each other in living with meaning, confidence, and control.

Our Approach to Treatment

We believe in holistic health that encompasses the physical, psychological, emotional, and social aspects of our lives. At Gladstones, ‘a full recovery’ means more than just beating addiction, but beating it in a way that leads to an improved quality of life—a rich and rewarding future in your control, not your addiction’s.

Gladstones Clinic employs modern clinical therapies used in rehab clinics around the world. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), other one-to-one counselling methodologies, group therapies, and more help our patients understand their addictions on a very personal level, allowing them to develop effective strategies for dealing with unique problems; evaluate and adjust harmful thought patterns that lead to destructive behaviours; and gain insight and perspective from others.

Alongside these therapies, we also rely on proven alternative therapies and practices, such as yoga, guided meditation, and acupuncture, to complement recovery. These practices all promote healing in their own way, reducing stress and anxiety, improving blood flow, and improving mindfulness. Many of our patients continue these practices after returning home.

Our Rooms and Facilities

Detox, the first step towards recovery, can be a painful and uncomfortable experience, and your immediate environment can have a significant impact on your mood and comfort levels. After 20 years, we understand our patients’ needs and have equipped our residential clinic with everything needed to make detox and rehab as comfortable and productive as possible.

We can accommodate a maximum of 12 patients at our Cotswolds residential clinic, each in a private bedroom with a private en-suite bathroom. This ensures that we maintain a small-group feeling. Our clinic is light, clean, and airy and features well-furnished and equipped shared spaces and onsite meeting rooms. We also have a furnished garden and other places to relax.

Although we cannot allow our patients to leave the clinic during detox and early primary care, we do take supervised trips to nearby parks and green spaces with more stable patients or those nearing the end of treatment.

We also recognise the role that nutrition plays in stabilising the mood and suppressing cravings. Our long-serving culinary team prepares and serves three meals daily and also puts out healthy snacks and refreshments throughout the day. Having cooked for clients from all backgrounds, they can accommodate all food restrictions or requirements.
